Co-Everything: Defining co-design for fashion and textiles

The concept of ‘Co-Everything’ emerged through a mapping exercise, to develop a deeper understanding of participatory consumer culture. This presentation explores how consumers transition from being passive subjects within the ‘fast fashion’ system, towards becoming co-designers.  Through this exploration a range of practical examples were identified demonstrating inclusive, open and connected practice to cater for consumer involvement within the design process and five key themes emerged; customisation, design activism, collaborative consumption, crowdsourcing and open innovation.
